Dave was born with a strong love of the outdoors, and from a young age always had a camera in hand. Whether for work or leisure, he can often be found skiing, mountain biking, paddling, climbing, or hiking in the rugged backcountry of British Columbia. Basing himself out of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island gives him easy access to a beautiful coastal setting as well as allowing him more time to spend with his loving wife and young daughter.
Dave completed the Professional Photography Program at North Island College in 2004 and since has been working full time as a professional photographer.
Dave’s previous work as a bike mechanic, ski tech, and ski instructor/coach, certainly positioned him well for pursuing his photography career in both the bike and ski industries. For several winters Dave managed a successful photography program for Island Lake Lodge and Powder Cowboy Catskiing resorts near Fernie, BC. Dave has photographed a variety of adventure races and mountain bike events. He has been the director of photography for the BC Bike Race since its inception in 2007.
Dave also provides his services to a variety of hotels, resorts, tourism, construction and industrial operations looking to showcase their locations or products. His images are used for websites and print advertising. Dave has been a contract commercial photographer covering all of the Vancouver Island region for SeeVirtual360.com since 2005.
Dave’s impressive images have been published in a variety of publications, and printed on walls and banners all over the world. Dave Silver Photography’s client list includes:
